In a landmark development for international civic cooperation and humanitarian support, Kent With Ukraine has today signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chernihiv Regional Administration of Ukraine. This strategic agreement marks a formal commitment to building upon and deepening the many ties between Kent communities and one of Ukraine’s most resilient regions by advancing solidarity, supporting recovery, offering cultural exchange, and promoting every opportunity for working together at a time when enduring international partnership matters more than ever.

A Memorandum With Purpose
The MoU that was signed by the First Deputy Head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration, Mr Kostiantyn Mehem and the Founder of Kent With Ukraine,
Cllr Jordan Meade underscores a cooperative framework that is designed to:
Promote economic, educational, cultural, and technological exchange;
Facilitate long-term humanitarian support and community-to-community partnerships;
Enable organisations, community groups, schools, and businesses across Kent to engage directly with counterparts in the Chernihiv region;
Strengthen links that contribute to regional recovery, resilience, and future development.

Importantly, this MoU builds on extensive grassroots activity already underway following the signing of the 2024 Kent-Chernihiv Regional partnership. This work includes multiple humanitarian missions, crafting twinning agreements between parish and municipal communities, and exchanges initiated by Kent residents and organisations through Kent With Ukraine.
Cllr Jordan Meade, has been vocal about the significance of the partnership. Having travelled to Ukraine multiple times to deliver vital aid and witness conditions on the ground, he emphasised the MoU’s meaningful impact:
“This MoU signifies the ongoing commitment of people, businesses, schools and councils across Kent, who every day affirm our shared values of support, resilience and solidarity with the people of Ukraine.”
For everyone at Kent With Ukraine, and everyone who has supported our progress, this initiative goes far beyond a symbolic gesture - it is a practical, strategic mechanism that unlocks deeper connections and support channels for communities in both Kent and Chernihiv.

Cllr Jordan Meade on the signing of this agreement said:
“Since beginning my humanitarian and support work in Ukraine, I have witnessed both suffering and determination first-hand. This agreement empowers our community to act as strategic enablers, connecting businesses, educational institutions, and community groups, helping to support recovery and develop opportunities for shared prosperity. This agreement not only symbolises solidarity in the face of adversity, but embodies a concrete pathway toward collaborative action and community-based resilience”
