KWU Condemns Russian Drone attack on University

Last night, the Russian terrorist state carried out yet more cowardly drone attacks in the Chernihiv region. They targeted Chernihiv Polytechnic University Національний університет Чернігівська політехніка and sadly this was not for the first time.

In condemning the attack, Kent With Ukraine Founder said:

'Just a year ago, Roger Gough and I had the privilege of visiting this very institution – a place dedicated to providing excellence in specialist education. Roger and I were so impressed by the passion and commitment of all the staff we met and the visit to this university left a lasting impression upon us both. Today, that same community of students, lecturers and staff are in our thoughts as we now reflect on how we can strengthen our support for education and universities across the Chernihiv region.

I utterly condemn Putin’s Russia for these cowardly attacks. To deliberately target places of education, under the cover of night, is an assault not only on Ukraine but on an assault on humanity itself. The deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure and universities such as Chernihiv Polytechnic, is a direct violation of international law. Just in the past day Russia has shelled the Chernihiv region 41 times. - There has to be a reckoning for these atrocious Russian war crimes.

When schools and universities are attacked, it is a stark reminder of why our support must not waiver, why Putin’s terrorist regime must be held to account, and why we must continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Chernihiv region and with Ukraine.'
