Veteran Initiatives - How KWU supports Ukraine's Defenders
Ukraine’s veterans have defended not only their homeland, but the freedom and security of Europe. Kent With Ukraine is committed to standing with Ukraine’s brave defenders as they return from the frontline, recover from injury, rebuild their lives, and continue to serve Ukraine in civilian life.
Through our veteran initiatives, we work with Ukrainian partners, regional authorities, civil society organisations and specialist service providers to strengthen practical support for veterans and their families. Our focus includes policy development around access to rehabilitation, mobility, employment pathways, community reintegration, accessible housing, and the development of stronger local and national systems of support.
We believe that veteran support must be dignified, practical and long-term. That means helping Ukraine build services that do not simply respond to immediate need, but also create lasting evidence, policy learning and delivery models that can be scaled across the country.
Kent With Ukraine is proud to support Ukraine’s brave defenders — not only with words of solidarity, but through practical partnership, trusted relationships and a clear commitment to Ukraine’s recovery, resilience and future.

Our Veteran-focused Projects
We are currently undertaking extensive programming to strengthen our ability to support veterans across Ukraine. Alongside our partners, we are actively working in the following areas:
-
Decentralised support for Ukraine's brave defenders through strong local government.
-
Improving the availability and accessibility of transport for veterans.
-
Supporting training, employment and labour standards for veterans.
-
Digitalisation and innovation.
-
Streamlining referral pathways.
-
Advanced psychological pathways and securing funding for treatment of burns and scars.
-
Veteran dignity and independence (such as through our generator donations in February).
