Our lorry departs Kent for Ukraine

Kent With Ukraine extends our sincere thanks to the many individuals, community groups, and partners who have come together over the past week to support an urgent winter appeal for northern Ukraine. Thanks to an extraordinary collective effort, the organisation has successfully secured the funding required to purchase much-needed emergency generators for the Chernihiv Region, where communities continue to endure the harsh realities of winter amid ongoing war.

These generators now form part of a substantial aid convoy currently making its way across Europe. Alongside them are tonnes of specialist medical supplies, rescue and emergency equipment, warm winter clothing, and a remarkable collection of hand-knitted blankets, scarves, hats and gloves—each a tangible expression of solidarity from communities in Kent and beyond.

We spent the day yesterday with the incredible team at Skyford Logistics in Sittingbourne who have stored, packed and help us to get this aid on the road to Ukraine. Their assistance with storage, careful packaging, and the intensive loading operation has ensured that the aid could be dispatched swiftly and efficiently at a critical moment. Special shout out to Mariia who loaded our lorry yesterday with such expertise and precision that not an inch of space was left unused and that this shipment was able to get on the road. We are so grateful for how everyone at Skyford has gone the extra mile to support Ukraine.

Over the coming days, all this aid and the generators will arrive in the Chernihiv Region, where it will be distributed directly to the communities most in need. With temperatures plunging again and energy infrastructure under continued attack, access to reliable power is not a convenience but a lifeline—enabling heating, lighting, medical care, communications, and basic dignity for vulnerable families, elderly residents, and those living close to the frontline.

As the war continues and winter tightens its grip, Kent With Ukraine remains steadfast in its commitment to stand with the people of the Chernihiv region and Ukraine for as long as it takes. This latest aid delivery is not only about generators and supplies; it is about sending a clear message that the people of Ukraine are not forgotten, and that communities here in Kent will continue to respond with resolve, generosity, and humanity.'

Thank you to everyone who played a part in making this latest aid mission a reality - we could not do it without your continued support.
