Letters Across Borders: Special Delivery for Higham Primary School
At Kent With Ukraine, we have always believed that partnerships are most powerful when they are rooted in people and that is why we have invested a significant amount of time into our school twinning programme . Jordan, Iris, Helen and Derek representing Kent With Ukraine, visited Higham Primary School to deliver a collection of letters and cards — all messages sent by children in Novyi Bilous, Chernihiv region, in response to letters written by students in Kent just a few mo

House of Lords Round-table on Defense Innovation and Resilience
The ongoing war in Ukraine has highlighted the urgent need for stronger defense capabilities and resilience. In response, we were proud to convene a high-level roundtable in the UK Parliament , bringing together senior parliamentarians alongside British and Ukrainian partners. This meeting focused on accelerating the development of critical capabilities to counter Russian aggression. The collaboration also introduced new initiatives aimed at documenting Russian war crimes, co

Supporting Children in the Chernihiv Region as Generators Bringing Light, Warmth, and Hope
Over the past few months, Ukraine has endured one of the harshest winters in decades. In the Chernihiv region, temperatures plunged to as low as –27°C, accompanied by heavy snowfall and prolonged periods of extreme cold. Throughout this time, Russia continued its relentless attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, leaving thousands of people without electricity, heating, and, in some cases, even access to running water for weeks at a time. For families already living under

Koriukivka Remembered: Lessons from the Past and Present Resilience Against Brutality
This morning in Koriukivka, Cllr. Jordan Meade, representing Kent With Ukraine stood quietly at a memorial that marks one of Europe’s darkest moments. Between March 1 and 2, 1943, Nazi SS units and Hungarian collaboration units murdered over 7,000 innocent Ukrainian civilians here. Entire families—men, women, and children—were slaughtered in cold blood. The villagers were murdered using automatic weapons such as sub-machine guns and light machine guns, while some where burned

Life-Saving Generators Reach Vulnerable Children in Chernihiv Region
Kent With Ukraine has delivered nine generators to foster families and a family-type orphanage across the Chernihiv region, providing vital power to some of the most vulnerable children in Ukraine, as Russia continues its deliberate campaign against civilian energy infrastructure. Visits to Kyiv, Sumy and Chernihiv Region - January 2026
Kent With Ukraine Founder, Jordan Meade, began his first working visit of 2026 in Kyiv. It was intended to be a practical working visit to the capital: meeting partners, strengthening coordination activity, and advancing both the commitments of KWU and UK Friends of Ukraine for the year ahead. But within hours of arrival, at the Ukrainian Border the purpose of the visit was confronted by a brutal reality that has become routine for millions of Ukrainians. The delegation attem

Christmas marked at Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the Holy Family
Kent With Ukraine Founder Jordan Meade was proud to accompany Lord Risby this week as they joined members of the Ukrainian diaspora in London for a moving and deeply meaningful Christmas concert held in solidarity with Ukraine. The special evening brought together supporters, community leaders, and friends of Ukraine at a time when the country continues to endure the brutal realities of Russia’s ongoing invasion. Against that backdrop, the concert offered not only a moment of

KCC Visit to Ukraine
In November 2024, a significant moment in the story of Kent’s support for Ukraine was reached as the Leader of Kent County Council, Roger Gough, and County Councillor Jordan Meade travelled to the Chernihiv Region, a region that has endured some of the most intense devastation of Russia’s full-scale invasion, to formally sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between our two regions. This was not simply a diplomatic visit. It was the formalisation of something much deeper:

HISTORIC PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN KENT AND CHERNIHIV, UKRAINE SECURED
Reflections by Councillor Jordan Meade... Over the past six months, I’ve been working to secure a cooperation partnership between Kent County Council and the Chernihiv Oblast Чернігівська ОДА, in Ukraine. This mutually beneficial agreement will act as an enabler for the businesses, community groups and residents of Kent to strategically support one of the Ukrainian regions that was most affected by Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine in 2022. On Thursday, I was overwhelmed t

Reflections on visit to Chernihiv
On the second anniversary of the outbreak of war in Ukraine, Councillor Jordan Meade revisited Chernihiv in northern Ukraine. During the full-scale invasion, Russia occupied towns and villages across Chernihiv Oblast and laid siege to Chernihiv City. Despite enduring horrific bombardments, relentless artillery shelling, and in far too many cases the butchery and war crimes committed by the Russian military, the determination and strength of the heroic people of Chernihiv stan

Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv: Exploring the Sacred History and Architecture
Jordan and Rosemary recently experienced a rare privilege: a private tour of Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv. This visit offered them a unique chance to connect directly with those dedicated to preserving Ukraine’s cultural heritage amid the ongoing war. When Russia claim in their lies cultural superiority over Ukraine, it’s worth remembering this: when the foundation stone of Saint Sophia Cathedral was laid in Kyiv, Moscow did not even exist. It was a swamp. Kyiv, meanwhile,

Seeing how Russia destroys libraries in Chernihiv City
The Russians destroyed libraries as libraries represent freedom. Freedom of ideas, freedom of reading, of communication and of that unquestionable right to self-education. Libraries also represent the preservation and celebration of culture and national identity through time. Seeing burnt books and bombed-out libraries is a haunting reminder of how precious these freedoms are and why we must do all that we can to support our Ukrainian friends in their hour of need. At Kent Wi
