Valentine's Fundraiser for 56th Motorized Brigade

Kent With Ukraine proudly joined the Ukrainian Community in Kent for a special Valentine’s fundraiser supporting the 56th Motorized Brigade of Ukraine. The event brought together Ukrainians from across the county, local supporters and community members for an evening filled with solidarity, entertainment, and a shared commitment to aid those defending Ukraine. Representatives from Kent With Ukraine, including Jordan Meade, Iris Smith, Helen, and Derek Ashenden, were present to show their support and help raise vital funds.

A Night of Community and Purpose in Canterbury

The fundraiser took place in Canterbury, where the Ukrainian community and their supporters gathered to celebrate in an evening of love and resilience. The event was organised by Mariia Redko and the dedicated team of the Ukrainian Community in Kent, who worked tirelessly to create a memorable evening that combined heartfelt fundraising with cultural celebration. Their efforts demonstrated the power of community action in times of crisis.

Kent With Ukraine were delighted to be invited to attend this event and our Founder Jordan Meade offered opening remarks, during which he spoke about his recent visit to Ukraine, the tough winter that Ukrainians are currently enduring and the need for us to rally together, now more than ever before, in support of Ukraine. The kent With Ukraine team were pleased to see a number of familiar faces present and to engage with attendees, sharing information about ongoing projects and needs, and encouraging donations to help the 56th Motorized Brigade.

The Grandmothers of London: A Unique Highlight

One of the most remarkable moments of the evening was the performance by the “Grandmothers of London.” This group of construction workers transforms into a dance troupe of бабусі (Ukrainian grandmothers) to raise funds for Ukraine. Their creative approach has captured global attention.

Over the past few years, the Grandmothers of London have raised over £100,000 and helped send more than 40 vehicles to the front lines. Their dedication and innovative fundraising efforts have made a tangible difference in supporting Ukrainian troops and the defence of Europe. Their performance at the fundraiser was lively, inspiring, and a powerful reminder of the need to support Ukraine.

How You Can Help

Kent With Ukraine encourages everyone who attended or learned about the event to continue supporting Ukraine’s defenders. Donations can be made easily using the QR code on the event flyer. Every contribution helps provide essential resources to the 56th Motorized Brigade and other units on the front.

Supporting Ukraine is not just about financial aid; it is about standing in solidarity with a community facing immense challenges. Events like this Valentine fundraiser show how local groups and individuals can come together to make a real impact.

Moving Forward Together

By joining forces with the Ukrainian Community in Kent and groups like the Grandmothers of London, Kent With Ukraine is on a mission to build a network of care and action. This network is vital as the situation in Ukraine remains challanging. We are very proud of what Mariia and the Ukrainian Community in Kent achieved with the success of this event!
